The 2024 National Medical Association (NMA) Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly took place August 3–7 in New York City, uniting Black physicians, healthcare professionals, researchers, and students for a powerful week of education, advocacy, and leadership. Held at the New York Hilton Midtown and Sheraton Times Square, the convention featured CME sessions, specialty meetings, and high-impact panels focused on health equity under the theme “The Quest for Healthcare Transformation.” Highlights included the installation of Dr. Virginia Caine, MD, as the 125th NMA President, civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton speaking on community empowerment and health justice, and Michael Bloomberg’s historic announcement of a $600 million donation to four HBCU medical schools, strengthening their endowments and expanding the pipeline of Black physicians. The 2024 convention reaffirmed NMA’s legacy as a driving force for equitable care, professional excellence, and the advancement of underserved communities.
